The Electrification of Public Transportation. An Innovative Benchmark Analysis

The TCRO Calculation Method and Results for Italy

Increasing efficiency in public transportation and improving air quality are two strategic policy objectives in European and world cities. GREEN has developed an innovative TCRO (Total Costs and Revenues of Ownership) methodology to compare management and energy scenarios for road transportation in public transit for 2021, 2025, 2030 in a few major economies, including Italy.
In particular, the research study did a benchmark analysis on urban buses (8-meter, 12-meter, and 18-meter long) with different types of engine (diesel, full electric, CNG, LNG, biogas and hydrogen), considering investment and operating costs, as well as revenues from the recycling of batteries and bus2grid.
The presentation of the study is an occasion to fuel the debate with the main stakeholders of Italian local transportation.
